🇰🇷 South Korea

Best Crypto Cards in South Korea

What Korean residents can use, and why real-name banking and the travel rule dominate the process.

Pages are written in English, Korean is machine translated.

Korea has one of the strictest crypto compliance regimes in the world. Real-name accounts and transfer rules define what is possible.

Compliance is usually the greatest constraint

Address whitelisting delays can strand funds mid transfer. Test with a small amount first.

This page is information, not legal or tax advice. Always comply with the laws that apply where you live.

Laws and rules that actually decide what you can use

Real-name bank account requirement

Under the Act on Reporting and Using Specified Financial Transaction Information, exchanges must use real-name verified accounts at a partner bank, matched to the user's identity.

Travel rule from KRW 1 million

Transfers at or above one million won require originator and beneficiary information to be transmitted between providers, which restricts sending to unhosted wallets on some platforms.

Virtual Asset User Protection Act

In force since July 2024, it mandates segregation of user deposits, insurance and market abuse monitoring.

Taxation of virtual asset income

The planned 20% tax on virtual asset gains has been repeatedly deferred, confirm the current start date.

Practical notes

  • Withdrawing to a self-custodial wallet may require whitelisting the address with the exchange.
  • Foreign issued cards are usable, but funding from a Korean exchange runs into travel rule checks.
  • Domestic card networks are well developed, so acceptance is not the issue, transfers are.

Cards available in South Korea

No-KYC cards work everywhere, and the risk sits with you

The charcoal cards below skip full identity checks, so they are usable from South Korea regardless of local issuer support. That convenience shifts the compliance and account freeze risk onto you, and it does not make prohibited activity lawful.

Crypto cards in South Korea, questions we get asked

Who ranks these cards

I'm Tristyn Pawson, founder of ConsistenC.xyz. Over the last five years I've worked on marketing, development and growth across five crypto cards and neobanks, building at least three of them from scratch.

Alongside that I've run in-depth research on 20+ crypto banks to understand what actually makes someone keep a card in their wallet. These rankings reflect that: which problems are tolerable, and which ones are genuine deal breakers.
