The US is well served on paper and restricted in practice. State money transmitter licensing is why several top ranked cards exclude the market entirely.

IRS Notice 2014-21 treats virtual currency as property. Paying with crypto realises capital gain or loss on the disposed asset, including a coffee purchase.
Digital asset brokers report gross proceeds on Form 1099-DA for transactions from 2025 onward, with basis reporting phasing in after that.
Issuers must hold licences state by state, and New York's BitLicense is the strictest. This is the usual reason a card is unavailable in specific states.
Full KYC is mandatory. No-KYC products are not lawfully available to US residents from US issuers.
The charcoal cards below skip full identity checks, so they are usable from United States regardless of local issuer support. That convenience shifts the compliance and account freeze risk onto you, and it does not make prohibited activity lawful.
