Which crypto card has the lowest FX fees?

On our benchmark purchase Coca Card returned the lowest gross spread at 1.18% above mid-market, with EtherFi and Bitget close behind. Advertised rates rarely match the deducted amount, so we rank on the amount that actually left the wallet.

Can you get a crypto card without KYC?

Every card in this ranking asks for identity verification before the card can spend. Self-custodial options such as Wirex and Oobit keep your funds in your own wallet until authorisation, but the card rails themselves are issued by regulated partners that require KYC.

Is a crypto card custodial or self-custodial?

It depends on the issuer. Custodial cards hold your balance on their books and you preload them. Self-custodial and non-custodial cards, such as Wirex, Coca and Oobit, pull from a wallet you control at the moment of the transaction.

Is crypto card cashback actually worth it?

Only when the cashback exceeds the FX spread you pay. A 2% cashback card with a 3% hidden spread still loses money. We publish net cost after cashback for every card so you can compare on the number that matters.

Do crypto cards charge fees on small purchases?

Some do. Cards with a minimum fee per transaction, such as Oobit at $0.25, produce very high effective markups on coffee-sized purchases while staying cheap on large ones.

How we benchmark FX rates and feesExpand

Every card is funded from the same wallet and used for the same benchmark purchase on the same day, so the only variable left is the card itself.

Record the mid-market rate at the moment of purchase.
Run an identical low-value transaction on every card, screenshotting the deduction.
Subtract the mid-market cost from the deducted amount to get the gross spread.
Deduct any cashback actually received to get the net cost.
Log setup time, KYC documents requested, top-up speed and ATM terms separately.
