The claim vs. the reality
Kast markets itself as a premium, Solana-native lifestyle card. The perks are solid, but they come with strings attached.
- A $0.10–$0.20 "low transaction surcharge" applies to any non-USD purchase under $25
- 1.5% cashback has a 14-day holding period and cannot be withdrawn externally
- Top-ups flow through Solana with sub-cent gas fees
Real FX cost & conversion spread
- $10 deposit − $2 virtual card fee − $6.40 remaining = $1.60 deducted for the chips
- Baseline market cost: $1.47
- Actual deducted charge: $1.60
- Hidden spread: ~7.93%, a 1.18% markup plus the $0.10 flat fee, applied together
The verdict
Kast makes sense if you spend heavily in USD or move large amounts on Solana. For small everyday purchases the flat low-transaction surcharge makes it one of the most expensive cards tested.
