Krak Card launches in the US. Here's what they claim on fees and cashback.

Krak Card is live in the United States as of 18 Aug 2026. Visa debit, issued by Lead Bank, powered by Stripe Issuing. Kraken's blog and the Krak site pitch it as up to 2% cashback in USD or BTC, 600+ assets, no monthly fee, no annual fee.
I have not live-spent the US card. Everything below is from Krak's website, pricing page, support docs, and today's launch tweet. It is not a Cardify till test.

Krak posted this today.
Do they claim 1:1 USDT to USD?
No.
Krak's US pricing page splits spend into three buckets:
| Spend | What Krak publishes |
|---|---|
| USD spend in USD, in-store or online | Free |
| Foreign-currency spend (cash FX) | Visa exchange rate plus a 1% fee |
| Crypto spend (USDT, USDC, BTC, and the rest) | Converted to USD at purchase. A variable spread is included. They do not publish a 1:1 USDT-USD rate. |
The card-page footnote matches that: "Variable spread may apply when spending, FX fees apply, and third-party fees may apply at ATMs." The marketing line "no hidden fees" is about monthly and annual fees, plus free deposit paths. ACH bank transfer is listed as free. Apple Pay, Google Pay, and debit-card deposits are $0.25 plus 3.75%. Crypto deposits are listed as free.
Instant buy/sell inside the app is a separate 1% trading fee, plus spread on convert. That is not the card tap. It is what you pay if you convert an asset in the app before you spend.

The 2% cashback table
"Up to 2%" is the headline. The rate is a 30-day average of assets across Krak, Kraken, and Kraken Pro, calculated once a day. Cashback locks in when the merchant settles, not when you tap. You can take it in USD or BTC. They say there is currently no monthly cap.
From Krak's US cashback overview and the US pricing page:
| Tier | 30-day average assets | Cashback |
|---|---|---|
| Max | $50,000 or more | 2% |
| Elite | $10,000 | 1.5% |
| Pro | $1,000 | 1% |
| Lite | $200 | 0.5% |
| Starter | under $200 | 0% |
New cardholders get the top tier for 30 days after opening a Krak account, then the rolling average takes over.
The Metal card is sold as 2% cashback, uncapped, and only with Max. That is the same $50,000 average.
Cashback does not apply to ATM withdrawals, refunds, reversals, chargebacks, taps under $0.49, or funding and transfer-style transactions.
